I heard the sounds of the late B.C. flutist Paul Horn’s audaciously experimental album, Inside the Taj Mahal, played today on the digital TV musical channel, Galaxie.

The cut from Inside the Taj Mahal aired on a Galaxie station titled “Spa,” which exclusively plays ambient, atmospheric music.

I was reminded that Horn’s reverberating flute sounds, literally recorded inside the Taj Mahal, surreptitiously, represented one of the first, if not the first, examples of so-called New Age music.
